In 1976, Upon completing his Articling with a large Toronto law firm, David B. Thomas (Retired) returned to Oshawa, the City where he was born and raised, joining the office of Darren Michael.
In 1978 the Law Office of David B. Thomas (Retired) came into existence offering real estate, wills and estates and corporate legal services. David’s philosophy was to provide exceptional service at a fair price. The Law Office of David B. Thomas (Retired) quickly became known as a law firm that went above and beyond the call to assist its clients, attending at hospitals, nursing homes and his client’s homes. Additionally, Dave became well known for his expertise in real estate matters, his attention to detail, and the easygoing manner he brought to the practice of law.
Leon Efraim attended law school at the University of Calgary and upon graduation in 2001 joined one of Canada’s largest and most prestigious law firms practicing in the areas of corporate finance and securities. Upon his return to Toronto with his wife and infant son Leon joined a wealth management company that was an IIROC dealer member and where he serves as in-house legal counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.
In 2013 Leon started his own firm, assisting clients with corporate and wills and estates matters. One of Leon’s first clients was the Spark Centre, a Regional Innovation Centre that had just been established by the Government of Ontario and had rented space at the Core 21 building at 21 Simcoe St. N. in Oshawa. Leon joined the Speak Centre by renting space at Core 21 and found that his knowledge of corporate finance and commercial matters combined with his desire to demystify the legal process for clients while providing practical and cost-effective legal services drew a lot of clients. However, Leon found he was being regularly asked to supply legal services with respect to real estate purchases and sales which prompted Leon to start seeking a partner with an established real estate practice to help his clients and mentor Leon in the field of Real Estate Law.
In 2014 Leon and Dave met and by 2015 Thomas, Efraim LLP had been created. Reflecting both David B. Thomas (Retired) and Leon Efraim’s commitment to customer service and their belief that working with a lawyer should not be something to be feared or exorbitantly expensive, Thomas, Efraim LLP has continued the tradition created by the Law Office of David B. Thomas (Retired) by continuing to offer free consultations and very reasonable fees to its clients.
